I thought I tell you more about my other interests. As you may tell I am a busy body. I love having projects or hobbies to keep my mind stimulated. Most of my hobbies are geared to benefit me later in life. I am a student of Tai Chi and Kung Fu. I started studying the art of Kung Fu when I was 14 years old. I am a better person because of it. I did not start Tai Chi until I was 16. Mark Moy, my instructor teaches both and several other Martial Arts. As I progress in Tai Chi I am finding it to be a great tool. It helps me stay relax. I also am finding ways to use Tai Chi to help my massage clients. I enjoy studying these arts and seek ways to apply them to my everyday life in an effective manner.
Dressage is the horsemanship I am currently studying. Dressage is so finely created and unique that, to me it is similar to studying Classical music. I can tell you right now that Dressage have helped my riding abilities. Before that I studied Western Pleasure, basic Reining and English. Dressage is more my style as it presents wonderful challenges to better myself and build a positive relationship with the horse. In all of this I use Natural Horsemanship thinking and techniques to help get along with the horse. I believe in humane ways of communicating with the animal.
Jazz is my favourite style of music. I am a student of jazz drumming. My style has been shaped after drummers such as Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, Art Blakey and Elvin Jones. My background with music includes: studying with a classically trained percussionist, Jennifer Hervey. I also studied with Herman LeBeaux, a New Orleans Jazz drummer. Right now I am studying with Gary Hobbs. Whenever given the chance I attend concerts to listen to the musicians and dance to their music.
While I am not busy with horses, music or martial arts I write poems, hike, fish and camp. Nature is a great friend of mine. Without Nature I would have no will to live. Life to me should be exciting and full of positive studying. My best advice is to go out and have fun! May the horse be with you. |
